Tungufell is thought to have been located in the midst of a settled area in the Middle Ages, as there were farms farther up into the highlands. The farm is located furthers away from sea in southern Iceland and is closest to sea 58 km in Hvalfjörður which is in the west side of Iceland.
The old farmhouse was located behind the Church and the stable is still standing but the rest of the house was torn down in the sixties.
